Mansehra assistant commissioner injured as gunmen open fire on his vehicle in Nowshera
Mansehra Assistant Commissioner Adil Wasim was injured on Saturday, 31 October 2026, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his official vehicle in Nowshera district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The attack took place in the Panah Kot area, near Jalozai on Cherat Road.
Wasim was travelling back from his native village, Saleh Khana, and was on his way to Peshawar when the gunmen attacked. He was taken to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for treatment. A hospital spokesperson, Muhammad Asim, said Wasim was in stable condition and receiving medical care.
Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation soon after the attack. Nowshera District Police Officer Sonia Shamroz said a formal case had been registered and a special team had been formed to find and arrest those responsible.
So far, police have not said who the attackers were or why they opened fire. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

An assistant commissioner is a senior local government officer who runs day-to-day administration in a district, so an attack on one is an attack on the local government itself.
