Trump Offers UFC Boss Dana White the White House Press Secretary Job — ‘Please Take the Job!’

US President Donald Trump has offered UFC chief executive Dana White the job of White House press secretary — and asked him to bring a team of mixed martial arts fighters with him.

Trump made the offer in a post on his Truth Social platform on Saturday, 7 November 2026.

“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States,” Trump wrote.

The fighters Trump wants in the briefing room

Trump said he had asked White to bring six current and former UFC fighters as his “assistants”: Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes and Kayla Harrison. Trump spelled Harrison’s name as “Kayla Harris” in his post.

“We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!” he added.

White, 57, appeared to play along. He posted a photoshopped image of himself standing at the White House press briefing room podium on Instagram, with the caption: “On to the next chapter.”

Is the offer serious?

It is not yet clear. A source familiar with the matter told CNN that White had declined the offer, while one aide said Trump was making a joke. Neither the White House nor the UFC has officially commented. TMZ reported that White plans to discuss the opening with Trump in person on Monday.

White is a long-time friend and ally of Trump. In June 2026, the UFC staged a fight event on the White House South Lawn. White House communications director Steven Cheung reposted Trump’s message, writing: “Hell yeah! Do it, @DanaWhite!”

Why it matters

The press secretary job has been vacant since October, when Katie Zacharia left after just five days in the role — the shortest stint in the job’s history. She had followed Karoline Leavitt, who stepped down in August. Trump is reshuffling his staff after the Republicans’ heavy defeat in the midterm elections on Tuesday, and he has struggled to find someone to fill one of the most visible jobs in his administration.

What happens next

All eyes will be on White’s reported meeting with Trump on Monday. If White says no, Trump will have to look elsewhere — again.
