Dubai changes speed limits on five roads from 1 November

Dubai has changed the speed limits on five roads from Sunday, 1 November 2026 — up on three roads and down on two. The changes were announced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), working with Dubai Police, and apply to set sections of each road in both directions.

The biggest rise is on Al Asayel Street, where the limit goes up from 60 km/h to 80 km/h between Oud Maitha Street and Al Meydan Street. Al Mustaqbal Street rises from 60 km/h to 70 km/h between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Meydan Street, and Latifa bint Hamdan Street also rises from 60 km/h to 70 km/h, between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.

Two limits have come down. Al Rebat Street drops from 100 km/h to 90 km/h between Marrakech Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street drops from 80 km/h to 70 km/h between 2nd December Street and Khalid bin Al Waleed Street.

Road signs on the affected sections have been replaced, and speed cameras have been reprogrammed to match the new limits. The RTA said the changes follow an engineering study with an international consultant, in line with the 2026 Dubai Speed Management Manual, looking at road design, traffic volumes and accident records. Drivers have been advised to watch for the new signs rather than relying on memory or older navigation apps.

Why it matters

These changes cut both ways. Drivers on Al Asayel Street can now travel 20 km/h faster than before, while drivers on Al Rebat Street and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street must slow down where they were used to higher speeds. Anyone who misses a new sign risks a speeding fine, so the first days under the new limits matter most.

What happens next

The new limits are now in force, with updated signs in place and cameras adjusted. Drivers on any of the five roads should follow the posted limit on the section they are on, rather than the limit they remember.
